Qin Wang is a senior geologist and geophysicist with more than 30 years of international oil and gas industry experience. His career has focused on exploration and development, reservoir prediction, geophysical applications, oil and gas reserve and asset evaluation, and field production and operations management.
During more than two decades with Chevron, Mr. Wang was deeply involved in major international upstream projects, including the Agbami deepwater field offshore Nigeria, the Gorgon gas development on Australia’s North West Shelf, and marginal oil and gas developments in the Gulf of Thailand.
His responsibilities included development planning, well placement and drilling design for key development wells. By optimizing well trajectories and reservoir targeting, his work supported improved reservoir contact and long-term production performance.
Mr. Wang also participated in frontier exploration evaluations in offshore basins including Guyana, Brazil and Angola, providing technical analysis supporting major exploration-investment decisions.
In marginal-field development, he contributed to reserve-evaluation methodologies and led the development of workflows for geosteering and optimization of horizontal wells in thin sandstone reservoirs. These methods were applied in the Gulf of Thailand, where he helped guide the drilling of numerous productive horizontal wells and improve the economics of field-development programs.
During seven years with WSP USA, Mr. Wang focused on North American oil and gas asset evaluation and field-operations management. His work included reserve and economic-value analysis of unconventional oil and gas assets, including Eagle Ford shale properties, as well as underground natural-gas storage assets.
This experience gives him substantial knowledge of U.S. unconventional resources, field operations, regulatory requirements and compliance considerations.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Wang worked with CNOOC, where he led or participated in reserve calculations and development-plan approvals for major offshore fields including Suizhong 36-1 and Bozhong 34-2/4.
In 2024, he participated in the translation and publication of the Petroleum Resources Management System (PRMS) developed by the Society of Petroleum Engineers and industry partners.
Mr. Wang graduated from the School of Ocean and Earth Science at Tongji University and earned a master’s degree in geophysics and sequence stratigraphy from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1995. He is a professional member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the Houston Producers Forum.
Role at EPA
At Elite Property Advisors, Qin Wang provides senior-level expertise in reservoir evaluation, field-development planning, reserve and asset analysis, and oilfield operating risk.
His background is particularly valuable when investors need to understand whether reserve and production assumptions are technically credible, whether proposed wells and field-
development programs are realistic, and whether the economics properly reflect the operating conditions of the asset.
His work helps connect three critical questions:
What is technically recoverable?
What will it take to develop and operate the asset?
What is the asset economically worth under realistic assumptions?
